For the second consecutive month, Colombia has led the world in consumers searching for South
Florida real estate in January, according to the Miami Association of Realtors.
Brazil, which came in second place, led web searches for 17 of the past 19
months. As of Friday, a Brazilian real equals 27 cents.
When it comes to
buying homes, Venezuelan and Brazilian buyers represented the highest percentage of South Florida home
sales, with 13 percent and 12 percent, respectively. Colombia tied with
Argentina for third place with 10 percent, spending an average of $516,000 on a
home in South Florida. Meanwhile, Brazil spends an average of $766,000,
according to the report.
South Florida is also
the No. 1 market for all international web searches looking for real estate in
the United States, followed by Los Angeles, Long Beach and Anaheim at No. 2.
Here’s a list of the
countries (and Puerto Rico) that searched the most for Miami real estate in
January. Compared to the same period last year, Russia and India are
absent from the list.

Meanwhile, California
led the country in states looking for residential property through the Miami
Association of Realtors website. California has led the U.S. in that ranking
for 14 of the last 15 months. Texas, New York, Georgia, Illinois, Tennessee,
North Carolina, South Carolina, Michigan and Pennsylvania followed. –
